Education Provision 1833

Winslow Parish (Pop. 1,290)

One Daily School, endowed with property amounting to 30/. per annum.   In this School, 12 males receive gratuitous instruction, and 8 others pay a small sum weekly.

Three Day and Boarding Schools, wherein 40 males and 20 females are educated at the expense of their parents.

Two Sunday Schools, supported by voluntary contributions, one with 110 children of both sexes, who attend the Established Church; the other, in connexion with Independents, consists of 90 children.

There are also several Lace Schools in the parish for females, who occasionally receive a lesson in reading. It is observed that the children of the poor in this parish (especially the boys), are in great ignorance, as, with the exception of the very limited number who benefit by the endowed School, they have no means of obtaining instruction but on Sundays.
