The Society of Genealogists is pleased to announce that its Library Catagloue is now available on-line.

Access to the catalofue until now has been restricted to PCs located in the Society's library. You will not be able to view any of the materical on-line, it is the catalogue of library holdings. All of the material is located at the Society's premises in Goswell Road, London. The Society offers a limited search and copy service.

The Society's library is the largest family history research centre in the UK. The catalogue, which was computerised with help from the National Lottery, contains about 120,000 items including all books, microfiche, microfilms, CD-ROMS, audio cassettes and a few videos. The catalogue is held in a wadely used commercial software package produced by EOS. The total dataset, hosted on their server, uses extensive indexing and thesaurus terms, is over 9 Gigabytes.
