Notes to table of Census information

1 On 1841 Census ages were recorded in years up to age 15. Older ages were rounded down to multiples of 5 years so a 24 year old would be recorded as 20, a 56 year old would be recorded as 55

2 On 1841 Census only a "Y" or "N" was written to state whether or not the person was born in the same county they are currently living in. "S" indicates born in Scotland, "I" in Ireland and "F" in Foreign Parts

3 On 1841 Census only the first forename should have been included

4 This column was used to identify Self Employed people

5 Own Account indicates that the person worked from home

6. Each household is recorded in the Enumerators Summary Book (RG78) and The Household. This is the first census with a page per household completed by the householder.
